Making a difference in the lives of seniors through socialization
At Harmony Haven, we recognize the incredible benefits of socialization and companionship on our seniors' mental health and well-being. Opportunities for social interaction and connection building with friends, family, neighbors, and community members can help alleviate depressive symptoms, lessen feelings of senior isolation and loneliness, and even lower the risk of Dementia.
By spending time with our caregivers, your loved one has not only someone available to assist with household chores or food preparation but also a friend who provides social interaction and a companion who may assist them in resuming activities that bring them joy throughout their time shared.
What Is Companion Care?
Senior companion care, or companionship, provides emotional support, friendship, and socialization. Common care activities include:
- Conversation and mental stimulation, such as playing games or listening to music
- Meal prep and time spent together over breakfast, lunch, or dinner
- Light activity, such as a walk or time spent outside
- Laundry and light
- housekeeping
- Grocery shopping and errands
- Transportation to and from appointments and social events
- Reminders for personal care and grooming
- Medication Reminders
At Harmony Haven Homes, we emphasize activities that offer joy, stimulate the mind, and promote physical and emotional well-being. Our caregivers communicate with a client's family frequently to report progress, answer questions, and check in a while providing senior companion care to their loved one.
Our caregivers provide meaningful companionship, offering emotional support, conversation, and engagement in activities to combat loneliness and isolation. Our companionship services focus on creating a friendly and supportive environment where seniors can enjoy stimulating conversations, engage in hobbies, and share cherished moments with their caregiver
How Comfort Keepers Can Help
Our caregivers are trained and skilled in a broad range of care services that support senior companion care and senior mental health. This includes:
Nutrition And Meal Prep
Our caregivers can assist with grocery shopping and meal preparation, as well as providing support for nutrition and diet regimens suggested by physicians. Diet has a significant influence on overall wellbeing and reduces the risk of developing a variety of common health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. Whether someone needs assistance adhering to a specific diet or requires company in the kitchen, our caregivers can offer the support necessary to prepare nutritious at-home meals. Our mission is to make dinner both nutritious and pleasurable!
Conversation And Companionship
Repeated studies have shown that seniors who remain socially active have a better quality of life than their solitary colleagues. As a result, they are less likely to suffer from despair and cognitive deterioration. Our caregivers provide seniors with company, discussion, and fun during their favorite pastimes, such as meals and social events. Clients and caregivers build stronger bonds when they work together on common activities.
Laundry And Light Housekeeping
Laundry can be done in the house or at a local laundromat with the assistance of our caregivers. There are a variety of laundry service options available, including washing, drying, ironing, and folding. Light housekeeping services include cleaning bathrooms (sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets), cleaning kitchens (counters, sinks, appliances, and taking out the trash), straightening all rooms, organizing closets, and drawers, and cleaning any interior windows that can be reached without a ladder.
Grocery Shopping And Errands
Customized care plans from Harmony Havens may include grocery shopping and other errands to help folks who prefer not to or are unable to leave their homes but still need access to fresh produce and other groceries to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Transportation
After a stay in the hospital, we offer transportation services to people who require a ride home or to and from future doctor appointments.
Medication Reminders
Medication reminders can help caregivers ensure patients take their medication as prescribed. Our professionally trained caregivers can open pharmaceutical containers, read care plans and prescription labels, and remind clients when it is time to take their medication.Â
Harmony Havens creates customized care programs encompassing physical safety and well-being, mental wellness, and socializing with your loved one. Our mission is to provide our clients with the finest possible care while allowing them to remain in their own homes as long as possible.
